Subaskaran Allirajah is the Founder and Chairman of the Lycatel and Lycamobile Group of companies. Subaskaran is a high profile industry thought leader, a visionary and entrepreneur with over 18 years entrepreneurial experience in the telecommunications industry.
Subaskaran founded Lycatel, an international calling card company, with the clear vision of growing the brand into a global leader. Subaskaran’s inspirational leadership spearheaded the company’s growth to 17 markets including, UK, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Italy, USA and Canada. He grew the Lycatel team from 10 to over 1,500 by 2006 and now has over 4,000 multicultural employees.
In 2006 Lycamobile was launched with the chairman’s vision to create a benchmark model for MVNOs with a mission of building the global number one mobile international calling brand. Lycamobile now operates in 17 countries across Europe, Australian and the USA markets with the largest international footprint of any international MVNO. Lycamobile has acquired over 30 million customers in 7 years and will continue to grow its customer base and geographical footprint in 2013 and beyond.
Subaskaran’s business acumen and insight into the needs of ethnic and immigrant communities led him to develop Lycamoney the pre-paid Master card in 2011 enabling customers to have safe and easy access to their funds without paying monthly charges. The Lycamoney pre-paid card supports online account management services, access to ATM machines worldwide and money remittance transactions.
n October 2011 the business that Subaskaran led over 10 years was ranked 36th in the Top Track 250 leading midsized private companies and in 2012 was ranked 2nd in the Top Tech 100 private technology companies by The Sunday Times. This was further highlighted when he received a Gold award for Best Overall Enterprise in 2010 for the outstanding impact he has made throughout the different communities and Platinum Award for Business Person of the Year 2012 at the Asian Achievers Award ceremony. The Asian Voice Political and Public Life awarded Subaskaran in 2011 the 'International Entrepreneur of the Year' award and in 2012 he also received the 'Business in the community' award on behalf of Lycamobile. These awards represent his drive and determination over the past 18 years to develop and lead a successful internationally recognised business.
Subaskaran’s mission is to continue to develop Lycamobile to be the global leader in providing telecommunications, financial services, travel and entertainment products and services to the international ethnic and immigrant communities, ensuring customers are provided with low-cost, high-quality products and services.
In December 2010 Subaskaran founded The Gnanam Foundation in an effort to give back to impoverished communities by providing support to orphans, women and men who've lost their livelihood and also to the elderly who have been abandoned without care. His Foundation has committed £1m over a 4 year period to the British Asian Trust, Prince Charles's charity for South Asia.
Subaskaran is a proud father of three boys and is a member of the Institute of Directors, UK.
Chris has over 19 years of senior level experience in the prepaid telecom industry. He pioneered many of the technical, commercial and legal industry standards in Europe for prepaid products and has worked extensively with Government Regulators and Tax Authorities. Chris was founder and CEO of Unitel Communications in 1994, co-founder of ECCSA (European Calling Card Services Association) in 1999, Chairman from 2001 to 2005.
Chris is responsible for business compliance and corporate governance for the Lycamobile group.
Chris holds a masters degree in History and Economics from Oxford University.
Premananthan Sivasamy serves as Deputy Chairman of the Lycamobile Group. He is responsible for global operations, driving synergy and efficiencies across the Lycamobile operating companies and service providers.
Working closely with Group Chairman Subaskaran Allirajah - with whom he has shared a long and prosperous working relationship dating from the very beginnings of their careers - Prem oversees strategic, commercial and financial matters across the 17 countries in which Lycamobile operates. Adept in tackling challenges associated with rapid financial and geographic expansion, he plays a crucial role in the induction of new country teams to the Lycamobile ethic and business practices, commanding a high and consistent level of service and practice across all divisions.
After graduating with a BA Honours Degree from Middlesex University, where he read Accounting and Finance, Prem held a number of high profile roles within the Prepaid International telecommunications industry. These include the position of Managing Director of the United Networks Calling Card Division and a post as Managing Director of Voice Telecom where he held overall responsibility for driving revenue for both the company’s calling card and residential telecoms products.
Reuniting with his colleague Subaskaran to oversee the launch of Lycamobile in 2006, Prem's experience in telecoms and his skilled orchestration of international growth has been instrumental in the Group’s continuing success.
Mohammed is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court (England & Wales) and is General Counsel across all Lycatel and Lycamobile businesses, globally. Mohammed joined the business when founded and since then has established a strong in-house Legal Team servicing the business needs. He specialises in Telecommunications Law and is recognised as an Industry Thought Leader. He is a seasoned Litigator with wide ranging experience in various jurisdictions globally. He is known for his practical commercial approach to all legal matters and his broad knowledge internationally in cross border issues.
Previous experience includes Powell & Company, where Mohammed led Human Rights Litigation, conducting several leading cases before the Court of Appeal and House of Lords, and commercial work in the telecoms market. He has experience in drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts in the Telecoms sector. He also advises on mergers and acquisitions, in addition to IP rights, Telecom Regulatory matters and Corporate Immigration.
Mohammed has lectured on Corporate Immigration, Human Rights matters and Company Commercial work, both in the U.K. and abroad.
Mohammed holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Professional Skills for Solicitors from the University of Cambridge, awarded with Distinction, after having read Law (LL.B Hons) at Cardiff University.
Kashmir is responsible for the development of distribution channel strategy for Lycamobile.
Kashmir has over 15 years experience within the Mobile Industry. Kashmir joins Lycamobile from KPN Mobile, where he was Head of International Wholesale. He was Instrumental in pioneering the new wholesale challenger strategy for KPN Mobile International resulting in remarkable growth experienced at both BASE and E-plus in 2005/2007.He also successfully launched 11 major MVNO's & Branded partners in 2006 across multiple segments (FMCG, media, data, ethnic, mobile retail and fixed) including 5 group deals.
Kashmir has an MSc in Satellite and Telecommunication Eng from the University of Surrey and a BEng (Hons) degree in Electronic Eng from UMIST (Manchester).
Mohan joined Lycatel as the Group's Chief Technology Officer in 2007 with the responsibility for spearheading strategic technology, research and development across Lycatel and Lycamobile.
Mohan has over 19 years senior experience in the technology and mobile sector and brings an unrivalled knowledge of implementing full MVNO technological architecture to Lycatel. Mohan's experience includes leading global business, responsible for driving MVNO thought leadership and sales and marketing - launching core full services for MVNO/ MNO.
Mohan has held various top management positions in listed public companies and in global corporations.
Michael is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Group Chief Financial Officer of the Lycamobile Group. He heads a Finance function that covers, Financial Management and Reporting, Group Structuring, Tax and Treasury, Corporate Finance and all external financial relationships to include mobile and carrier networks across the Lycamobile and Lycatel base.
He has entrepreneurial Board experience in both public and private Companies, as a CFO as well as in Corporate Development. Michael also has experience as a Senior Management Consultant at Price Waterhouse London in which he became a specialist in global cash management and also Corporate Finance consultancy experience in the United States, the Middle East and India, via his own boutique firm. Prior to joining the Lycamobile Group, Michael was Group CFO in a Hong Kong and Singapore Group that built a technology manufacturing operation in Northern France.
He has been Chief Financial Officer in Kalido, a technology company owned by Royal Dutch Shell, steering Kalido to an exit from Shell via a MBO backed by 2 leading Venture Capital organisations. Michael was also head of Corporate Development and External Financial Relationships and main Board Director for Staffwareplc, an international technology BPM Group which he took from AIM to a full Techmark listing on the London Stock Exchange. Whilst at Staffware, Michael closed two international acquisitions.
In addition, Michael has senior Corporate Treasury experience – most recently as Group Treasury and Tax Director in Rank Group Plc, a major UK leisure and gaming company in which he gained a significant amount of experience in the banking, bond and credit markets. Michael has also been Treasury and Credit Director with the international technology group Madge Networks N.V which listed on NASDAQ and in which he led the finance team for the acquisition of an large Israeli subsidiary.
Chris is responsible for brand management, digital, communications, customer management, sponsorship, events and PR across the Group for all brands in all 17 countries.
Chris has over 25year's experience in the technology and mobile telecommunications industry initially with the launch of Sky TV and then at O2 UK where he held senior marketing roles driving the growth of the O2 customer base from 1m to 20m. In 2003 he was appointed Chief Marketing Officer for the launch of Tesco Mobile. He was responsible for the Tesco Mobile launch proposition and led the marketing, Clubcard integration and customer acquisition strategy over 5 years - in that time Tesco Mobile grew to 1.7m customers with industry leading customer satisfaction and churn performance.
Chris raises money for charity via cycling events and is an active member of the Marketing Society.
Stephen is Head of Legal for the Lycamobile businesses, managing legal and regulatory affairs across Lycamobile's current operations and International developments.
Prior to Lycamobile Stephen worked at Virgin Mobile for ten years - including three years as Head of Legal and Management team member - from its launch through its listing as a FTSE 250 company on the London Stock Exchange and eventual acquisition and integration into Virgin Media.
Stephen trained and worked for eight years at two City of London law firms as a corporate lawyer. He is qualified in England, Wales and in Hong Kong and has spoken at high profile legal events in Europe and Asia.
Stephen holds an MA from Cambridge University and an MBA from Bath University's School of Management.
